Fear

Our inboxes are full of businesses promising us that they will take the utmost precautions for us when we shop, people are frantically buying things off the shelves and businesses are closing. In the midst of a time that seems like we are reliving a plague out of bible times, we can be assured that God is in control. When people are fearful around us, it can rub off on us if we aren't on guard against it. The bible says in 2 Timothy 1:7 God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind. As believers some of us walk in fear more than others. Some are scared of contracting the virus and others think that we are way overeacting to this pandemic. Although we might not all see eye to eye on this, one thing is true. God is in control and this is an opportunity to trust him. He doesn't change, he is not surprised by this and He will use it for good, see Romans 8:28. I find comfort in remembering all that God has done for me in the past. Think of a time that you were in a desperate situation, how did God come through for you? What did you learn from that experience? How did you grow in that experience? I believe that God has a lesson in this situation for all of us. Maybe its to slow down and spend time with family, maybe it is to teach us the importance of being thankful for all the things we take for granted. I don't know what the lesson might be for you, but for me I am learning that we live in a very busy fast paced world that never stops. My word for the year is REST, I am learning to rest in Him that He is in control, that He will provide for my needs and that He is the author and the finisher. He will use this for good.
